About Knee pain

Knee pain can present in various ways and in different locations. These vary from sharp to dull pain in either the inside or outside of the knee. There are many different causes for knee pain including arthritis, acute injuries, ligament, meniscus injuries and patello-femoral pain.

It is important to seek out medical attention when there is an inability to weight bear, inability to fully straighten or bend the knee, swelling or stiffness in the knees.

Impact of knee pain

Knee pain leads to physical disability and decreased quality of life. It may limit and reduce you physical activity, change biomechanics of your gait and affect your ability to squat up and down without pain.

Reduced physical function in mid to older ages is a strong predictor of future disability and dependency. Early treatment and prevention is likely to have a major influence on the healthy aging of this population.

HOW DO WE MANAGE AND PREVENT IT?

  • To diagnose and find out inhibited muscle groups.

Assess biomechanics of squatting, lunging, walking and much more…

  • A comprehensive treatment plan is put together by your physiotherapist.

Address dysfunction through manual therapy (soft tissue release, mobilizing, manipulating joints and dry needling)

  • Completed slowly on machines guided by our physiotherapists to target inhibited muscles.

    Address biomechanics found in assessment.

  • These rehab exercises will be incorporated into a whole body program targeting towards a healthier lifestyle whether it’s weight loss, toning up or increasing strength in all other body areas.
