Prevention and
management of back pain
Targeted manual therapy combined with strength training for effective prevention and management of back pain
ABOUT BACK PAIN
There are many various types of back pain, some related to the joints, connective tissue, muscles, and nerves of the back. There are various causes for back pain including lifestyle issues, physical fitness, being overweight and the type of work someone does. Pain is the most common symptom in back pain with 1 in 6 (4 million) Australians having reported back pain (2017-2018) in a national health survey.
IMPACT
When not treated appropriately for the root cause, back pain may lead to fear avoidance behaviors and changing our movement patterns. Certain muscles are then inhibited and inactive leading to muscle wasting, joint stiffness and a cycle of chronic pain.
